O Christmas Tree...

Keeps falling down.

We thought that since we have a house that has a 2 story high ceiling that we would take advantage of it and buy a huge 12' tree.
Well, not even 2 minutes after putting the tree up it falls. We tried a 2nd time and 3rd and it still kept falling. So Dad goes out and cuts a huge piece of ply board and screws the base down to the board to make it bigger. It worked for a day. I thought I was safe and so we started to decorate it....
Isabel helping me. She just wanted to climb up on the later more than anything
Anthony got the ornaments down low
... and then to my surprise the tree starts to fall again. Luckily we caught it. So real quickly while Dad held the tree Isabel and I grabbed all the glass ornaments off and put them away. Obviously this tree was determined not to go up. This time it wasn't that the base was not wide it enough. It was the pins that screw in the tree to hold in place broke. What the Heck!

We decided just to lean our tree up against the wall so at least if it falls it doesn't fall on a kid. Our tree is so bare. All it has is lights on it. Due to the fact that if it falls again I don't won't my ornaments breaking.

Oh and did I mention 2 days after putting the lights on the tree they go out. Now we just have a ginormous naked tree leaning up against my wall with NO lights either. Ugh!!! I will NEVER buy a big tree again

Oh no! I'm so sorry!! What you need to do is just buy a really big base after christmas this year so that you'll get it really cheap and have it for next years tree! =)

Awww...so sorry it's not wanting to stand up. I know it would be a little work, but cut some construction paper into strips and let the kids make some ring chains for the tree - they're light. You could also let them string some popped (un-buttered) popcorn on a string with some blunt needles. That would be fun for them, light-weight, and at least dress the tree up a little. Bows would be light and colorful. Just use some dollar bin ribbon or Michael's is having some GREAT sales on Christmas stuff right now. The kids could draw some things on paper too that you could turn into ornaments. None of that will break, it's relativley light, and who knows, your hand-crafted tree might be one of your favorites ever. At least you could have fun with the kids doing it!! Good luck!
