20 year Tag

Ok this tag has been going around in my family. I got tagged a couple of days ago and am just now getting around to doing it.

20 years ago (1988)...

I was 4 years old so I don't really remember too much. The summer going in to kindergarten I swallowed a quarter and had to go to the hospital to get it removed, because it was lodged in my esophagus and wouldn't move. The doctors said I was lucky, because the quarter was stuck vertically leaving air passage ways down both sides. If it would have been horizontal it would have blocked all my air. They put me to sleep and pulled it out. I woke up all horse and couldn't talk. The quarter was brown, because the acids in my body had already started to try to break it down. My brother, Alex, thought it was cool and he kept it. He still has that stupid thing too.

After kindergarten we moved to Charleston, SC where we lived for 3 years and then we came back to live in the same house as before in Columbia, SC. Oh and I absolutely loved school at this time.

10 years ago (1998)...

Well, at the beginning of the year I was in 8th grade and attended Pine Ridge Middle school. I still liked school and was in the band. I played the clarinet, but switched to play the flute for a year and decided I didn't like it that much so switched back to playing the clarinet. I also played softball (which the last year I played we made it to the World Series, we lost right away) and was on the swim team. My friends were Pam and Jennifer Moon. Who I hung out with all the time. We went everywhere together. I also hung out with Kenny McClure and Nikki Steele.

The 2nd half of the year I was fresh meat to all the high school kids. This is when my friends started to change...along with everything else. I started hanging out with Brian Bone, Chris Giles & Jesse Sturgess. Me and my best friend Jennifer would battle back and forth between who we liked between the 3 guys I just mentioned above. One week one of us would like Brian and the other Chris. Then the next week we would flop and change our minds. This went on for a couple of months, but I ended up sticking with Jesse and dated him for the next 5 years on and off.

5 years ago (2003)...

It had been a year after I graduated high school. I was a very lost individual. I was probably passed out at a party with Tina Lanier. At this time my life was pretty much a blurr from being way over intoxicated. I had gotten arested for shop lifting at Kohls. That is definitely a day I will NOT forget. I had to sleep in a cell with a 300 lb lezbo who murdered her girlfriend and another girl who had been arrested the same night I was. She was tripping off acid and was totally freaking me out. Oh what I night. I couldn't wait to get out the next day. I was so stupid. But I do have to say that it was a life changing experience. I never shop lifted again and I stopped my drug abuse because of PTI (Pre Trial Intervention). I did still drink, but I was a lot better. It was definitely a turning point in my life. I was engaged to marry Tony Carr at the time. That was short lived before I realized that he was possesive and abussive. I'm glad my family stood up for me.

1 Year ago (2007)...

We were stationed in Del Rio, TX where Anthony was going through pilot training for the Air Force. Anthony and I worked really hard on getting our act together so we could get sealed in the San Antonio Temple, along with getting our 2 kids, Isabel & Anthony, sealed to us as well. My calling in church was the Enrichment Specialist. I loved doing this calling. They always put me in charge of doing the food, which I like experimenting with new things. So it was fun. I really have came a long ways from 5 years ago huh. Thank goodness for repentance.

So Far This Year...

I have gotten pregnant with my 3rd child. Anthony has graduated pilot training and has recieved his wings. He also got a new calling in church as one of the priesthood teachers teaching out of the Joseph Smith handbook. I am still enjoying my same calling as the Enrichment Specialist. Oh, and I also had to teach Relief Society for the first time. That was nerve racking. Lately we have been trying to get ready for our move. Sorting through all our junk and getting rid of things we don't need. Its refreshing and stressfull at the same time.

Today...

Has been recovery day from yesterday. We had to go to San Antonio again for my 8th month check up with my OB doctor. It was cool, because when we got there all of the hotels on base were full and the 3 hotels near the base were full too. So they sent us to the Marriott down town on the river walk. It was nice staying in a 5 star hotel and having the military pay for it. Anyways, the doctor visit went well. Everything looks good. It was just a long day, because we did a lot of sight seeing. Well, not really sight seeing, but walking around shopping. We didn't end up getting home until 2am.

Tomorrow...

I don't have any plans. I might go over to Amy Rodriquez's house and get me some tips on sewing. They are sewing bags for one of the humanitarian projects for the church. They need people to help. I have a sewing machine, but don't know how to sew. This might be a good way for me to learn. I can let them use my sewing machine and have them teach me at the same time. Sounds like a plan to me.

In the Next Year...

We will be very busy bouncing around from state to state living out of boxes. We have to report to Altus, OK Sept. 8. Oh and buy the way I would have just had the new baby Aug. 11. Not much recovery time, but oh well. I guess this is how the military life works. We will be in Altus for 5.5 months, and then have to move back to Del Rio, TX. Stay there for 2 months and then report to Wichita, KS in April of '09. I think we will just keep our stuff in storage and stay in furnished hotels and appartments. In the mean time I will be trying to keep myself sane, while trying to keep 3 kids undercontrol as my husband will be bopping around from here to there for more training (land/water/parachute)

Ok I now tag...Nichole Hipple & Erin Udall

I totally forgot about Tony! And, I didn't know the story of your jail experience. How did I not know that, considering I'm your sister? Maybe I wasn't paying attention? Well, I'm glad your trauma there caused a turning point for you. You're definitely a lot better off today than you were then. I love you, girl! Seriously, I absolutely LOVE you! You bring me so much joy.
