ABC's & 123's

Where has the time gone? My babies are starting school. We were so happy that Dad was able to come back home in time to see Isabel off to her first day of school. Most importantly, we were glad that Dad was able to give Isabel a Father's Blessing to start the school year off right! Blessings are always so special. Well, here I am giving her her lunch box and wishing her luck. (I left her a secret message in her lunch box. I cut her sandwich to say I Love U) You know, the cute, fun, Mommy, special stuff you get to do for your kids.Showing us her book bag
Standing outside our house
We went next door to get Elizabeth. She is starting kindergarten as well. Unfortunately, they are not in the same classes, but their class rooms are right across the hall from each other.
Since the school is literally right across the street from our neighborhood the school bus doesn't come to our house, so we have to walk. It is a 1 mile walk, round trip, for us. We are getting good exercise. Isabel wanted to bring Lollipop on her first day walk to school. Aren't they precious all walking together.
You know, most kids are very attached to their parents and don't want to go to school. As I was looking around there were kids that were crying and latching onto the parents legs begging them not to leave them. As I am looking around at all of this nonsense Isabel is shoving me away, "Mom! I got it. Its ok. Go ahead, leave. Go! Go! Go!"
My poor daughter doesn't even want me to come in the school.
I told her, "Isabel, I have to take you to your classroom. You don't even know where it is."
"Yes, I do Mom! I got this!"
"Well, I'm walking you to your classroom anyways"
"Fine" pouting away
Right as we make it to the class door, she puts her hand out and stops me.
"Ok Mom, I got it. You can go now" waving me off, not ever letting me in the classroom.
What the heck? Isabel is way too independent for her little britches. I do have to say that it makes me proud that my daughter has so much self confidence. I hope that she will keep this trait and will do good things and be a good leader
When school got out we thought it would be nice if everybody was there to pick her up. So we loaded all the kids up in the wagon. When Isabel got out I thought she would have been super excited, but she was dead tired. School had worn her out. When, we got home I asked her how was her day and she responded sluggishly, "It was boring"
Me, "Why?"
Her, "we didn't get to go outside and play for recess, because it was raining"
Me, "Oh, well what did you do instead?"
Her, "we got to ice cupcakes for our teachers birthday"
Me, "Well, that sounds like fun to me"
Her, "Yeah, I guess" and then she fell asleep.

Later my Mom calls to ask about her day. Isabel's response was totally different. She was way excited and started to go on and on about her day. Telling everything she did. What? Why didn't I get that response? I guess, she was just really tired and didn't want to talk about anything. This is one good thing about school. My kids had grown out of nap time, but school wears them out so much that when they get home all they want to do is sleep. Hello nap time again! I'm loving it.

Sounds like it was a great first day - even if she didn't admit it at first! ;) That is too funny that she wouldn't let you in. Emma has the same dress, by the way.

I think all the Del Prore kids are independent. They're just around so many people all the time that adding more isn't a big deal. ;) My kids were the same way too. Hahaha...or maybe it's because they're excited to get away from the chaos??? =)

Okay, so I think the cutest picture is the walk with Lollipop...and I must say I love your porch and little palm on the side!!!!
