Fresh Fruit & Veggies

What I miss most about South Carolina is all of the fresh fruit and vegetables. Growing up I could always go out in my parents yard and pick fresh apples, pears, peaches, plums, blackberries, and grapes right off the trees/vines. And if we wanted a different kind of fruit or vegetable we had our friends who would help us out.

This year our friends from church, Br. Bone, had lots of collards left over and told us to come get what we wanted, b/c the season was over and he was done. This was the stack that was left after Pop delivered some to a couple of people. I just loved fresh collards.

Then right before we left we had to follow through with tradition and go to the strawberry patch and pick our own strawberries. It was so muddy that day from all of the rain that week, but we went anyways, b/c it was the last chance that we would have to pick them this year. We always buy our buckets and let the kids go loose. I think we eat like 3 dozen strawberries each while we are out in the field. It is nothing like eating fresh fruit straight off the vines. It has a totally different flavor. They are so much more tastier and sweeter. So Yummy!!!

Your family does so much AWESOME stuff together!!! I need to get better at this. Mine didn't do so much of these kinds of things, so I want to do it for my kids. All the memories you all will have from pickign strawberries, and going all sorts of places together. Wow!! Anyway, it was so fun to see you in Charleston, thanks so much for driving over to see us! We had a blast and will miss you. If you guys end up at Altus make sure to let me know. I'll be there from June-July. Take care!
